1. Have fun – We take laughter and fun seriously.  We can’t promise our humor is yours or every joke will land, but life and your fitness journey within it is supposed to be fun, right?  Along with a little hard work, of course.

 

2. Expand the concept of “mind-body connection.”  Many bodybuilders use the phrase “mind-body connection.”  In a nutshell, it means focusing on the exercise or movement you are doing so you truly F-E-E-L it to better assure you are getting the most out of the movement so that muscle growth can be optimized.  It’s a great concept that works. But it’s also a concept that works more globally in life. Think about it.  When you think you look better, do you feel better (emotionally or physically)?  When you feel better, do you look better?  We think for most people the answer to both questions is “yes.”  The problem is how you look is dictated first by society and second by your mirror.  Unfortunately, both can be flawed.  We are going to make a significant effort to talk about mental and emotional fitness as well as physical fitness because the body impacts the mind and the mind impacts the body.

 

3. Do what works. Not to get political but we believe facts exist, science is real and research matters.  We’ve had amazing advances in medicine and in understanding how the body works, and we can use that to our benefit when looking to improve our bodies and our overall health.  We’ll talk plenty about what we feel good research is and how to use it, but we are going to reference a whole lot of it for your consideration.
